You and Your Petpet
Having a petpet can make your neopet happy and cheery. Just think about having a pet and your pet has their own pet. That is exactly what is known as a petpet.
The first step towards having your very own petpet is deciding on which petpet you want. Petpets come in all varieties, shapes, sizes and colors. Be careful though, because you do not want your petpet to scare your neopet into another world outside Neopia. If this happens, you will have to just get another petpet for your neopet.
Now you might be asking yourself, "How do I give a petpet to one of my neopets?" That is easily done after you have already bought your petpet. Just go to "Your Items" and click on the petpet you want to give to one of your neopets. Once the pop-up window appears, choose the option that will give that petpet to the neopet you want to have it. It is that easy.
Once you have given a petpet to one of your neopets you can give it a name. To do this, click on "Pet Central" from the yellow side bar, then "Quick Ref" from the actual "Pet Central" page. If a petpet has been given to one of your neopets, it will be found under "Quick Ref". Click on the petpet you want to give a name to and you will be taken to a new page. Here you can enter a name for your petpet and even talk to it.
Your neopet's petpet can get very demanding so there is only one petpet allowed per neopet. Makes sense, huh? Well, if it does not, here are a few points to remember. One thing is that you do not have to feed your petpet, as long as your neopet shows it lots of love and attention, your petpet will be completely self-sufficient. You can even paint your petpet, just like your neopet can be painted. Just get a "Pet Paintbrush" and take your neopet and the attached petpet to the petpet puddle located inside the Rainbow Pool in the shops area. Once there, you can see all the different varieties of petpets you are able to buy and paint.
Once you have painted your petpet, it stays that color, whether you sell it, or place it into your Safety Deposit Box. It will always be that color until it is painted again.
Training is another area you can focus on with your petpet to increase their level of experience. Training is long and drawn-out but well worth the time involved. Visit the Darigan Citadel in Meridell to find the Petpet Battledome.
Now that you have been given the knowledge about everything involved in a petpet, the only thing left is to enjoy the benefits gained by having petpets. Do you need extra help in the battledome? Well, your petpet will make special appearances and help you out. Great huh?
Finally, there always comes a time when your neopet just becomes bored and you have to go searching for a new petpet. As much as your wallet hates to see hard earned neopoints spent, it may be time to removed a petpet, just to add another more exciting one capable of providing even more funfilled hours of amusement for your neopet. Also, if you ever intend to disown your neopet, you will probably want to remove their petpet or it will go with your neopet once disowned. Just go to "Pet Central", then "Quick Ref". When this page loads, click on the petpet you wish to remove. A new page will now appear and at the bottom there is a button saying "Stop Playing with Petpet". Clicking this button will return the petpet to your inventory of items and you lose all the levels gained and hours your neopet has spent playing with the petpet.
