Message Board Posting click images below for quick reference
Ever wonder how some of us can make all those interesting colours and fonts appear on our messages? Well, here, in the great Elemental Zephyr eLibrary, we will show you how!
This might seem daunting to look at first off, but we will go thru the symbols and how to change them to your own styles as we progress...
You can click on any of the buttons at the top and go directly to that section, or you can read through and learn them all.
You only have to click on the symbol once for the action to appear while posting, and it will always place the code at the end of all the previously written matterial in the message box. The letters must always touch the sides of the boxes, so the coding can go thru. There are examples for each section, and we hope this helps you in your message posting.
- bold text
When you click on this button, the code will appear in the message area and will look like this code: TEXT
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it bolded like this example...
- italics text
When you click on this button, the code will appear in the message area and will look like this code: TEXT
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it italicized like this example...
- underline text
When you click on this button, the code will appear in the message area and will look like this code: TEXT
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it underlined like this example...
- glowing text
This is a bit more than just a couple of boxes and a letter. It's got a CODE in it as well... the basic one always has this: [glow c=red w=500 s=3]TEXT[/glow]
You can always change it to be different things, for example, COLOURS:
RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, PURPLE, and BLACK are the basics. If you want to experiment with others, good luck, as some might work, and others won't.
The other thing you can change is the STRENGTH (it shown as the S= part). You can change the strength from 1 - 5. One is weakest and five is the strongest.
But always remember that you have to leave the code exactly as is, other than the name of the colour you are changing... remember to put a space after the colour and before the w (that stands for width, but you don't have to worry about that).
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it glow like this example...
- shadow text
This is a bit like the glow feature, as you can change the colour and strength of the text you are writing.
The basic code looks like this: [shadow c=blue w=500 s=3]TEXT[/shadow]
The color and strength can be changed just like the glow feature. Play around and have fun with this one also!
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it shadowed like this example...
- scrolling text
This is a simple code that will make your text scroll across the screen from right to left.
The code looks like this: [scroll]TEXT[/scroll]
- font text
The basic code looks like this: TEXT
There are a few things we can change in here as well...
c= colour: those can be any of the basics (including black)
s= size: can be changed from 1 to 10
f= font type: there are a few that are acceptable... arial is the most common, but there are others, like veranda, sans serif, times new roman, and one that only does symbols, but it's best that everyone understands what you are writing!
All you have to do is highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it appear like this example...
- image inserts
Even though this is not available in message posting, there are some simple images you can insert into your messages. Visit our neoschool article on Emoticons.
- eMail text
The email feature is not recommended, because everyone will see your personal email, and that's not a good idea, for any reason.
The basic code looks like this: TEXT
All you have to do is type your eMail address where it says email_address_goes_here and then highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it linked to the eMail.
- web address text
The url feature is only suggested to put in if there is a new NEOPETS link that you want everyone to visit. This is not meant for scamming, hacking or abusing the system in anyway though, so if you are going to put the link in, explain what the link is very clearly before hand.
The basic code looks like this: TEXT
All you have to do is type your web address where it says web_address_goes_here and then highlight the word TEXT and type your own words to have it linked to a web page on neopets.com.

- horizontal bar (rule)
This places a horizontal bar and also acts as a hard break in your messages.
The code looks like this:
All you have to do is click on this button and then continue typing your text.
- break text
This places a single break into your messages.
The code looks like this: [br]
All you have to do is click on this button where ever you want a line break and then continue typing your text.
This feature can be done just by pressing the enter key after each idea.
- paragraph text
This will start a new paragraph, leaving an empty space between paragraphs and stops all formats that you previously inserted.
The code looks like this: [p]
All you have to do is click on this button where ever you want a new paragraph and then continue typing your text.
THAT's IT EVERYONE! HAVE FUN POSTING!
